Only a few weeks ago came the announcement of the iPhone 4S and iOS 5, taking the world by storm and creating a frenzy only Apple could, but now this one could send the tech world into overdrive with the suggestion that the iPad 3 has already gone into production.

Jeff Fidacaro, Industry Analyst at Susquehanna Financial has claimed the new iPad 3 has already entered production in China. A conversation between him and AllThingsD revealed the following piece of information. “Since our last month supply chain checks we are now seeing 600,000 to one million iPad 3 builds showing up on the plan for the fourth quarter of calendar 2011… Our previous estimate did not include any iPad 3s.”

So what does this actually mean? Supply chain checks suggest to Fidacaro that Apple is upping the amount of iPads it knocks up in the final quarter of the year to between 12 and 14 million, from between 11 million and 13 million. This, Fidacaro reckons, means an early iPad 3 production run is just around the corner.
Industry bloggers are also predicting the iPad 3 with look totally different, but they’re only basing this upon how different the second generation effort looked to the original. Jumping to conclusions maybe…Other predictions for the new iPad 3 include a 9.7-inch version of the iPhone 4S’s Retina display and faster A6 dual-core CPU.

If these rumours turn out to be true, the iPad 3 could be with us from early 2012, with March being touted as that was the same month Apple released the iPad 2.

There is a possibility that this could after all JUST be a rumour, but for the tech fans amongst us it does give us a whole new gadget to be excited about.

If you can’t wait until the new iPad 3 comes out then why not head over to get your free iPad 2 right now instead?

If you’re the type of person to love slaying zombies at 7am then you need to look no further. Contract killer zombies is the latest game from the Glu game company who have brought many other fantastic games to the iOS platform.

The game comprises of missions where civilians cower from the hoardes of zombies making their way towards them and you being a wheelchair bound vigilante must protect them. Each mission takes place in a different part of a city where you must navigate the map to find different missions, or to visit the store to reload on ammo, weapon upgrades and more. All of which are paid for with money that you earn for completing each mission.

Using simple yet intuitive on screen controls you guide your sight around the screen, whilst also having the ability to look down your sight rather than firing from the hip. The controls comprise of a focus sight, shoot, reload and change weapon buttons.

Graphically the game is pretty fantastic for a free game on a portable device. The best point being the artwork during the loading screen and the introduction.

The game is comparable to the incredibly popular call of duty zombies mode, but on a portable scale. With multiple weapon upgrades available it will certainly take a while for the avid fps fan to tire of this one.

A must download game for any iOS handset, and even more so if you have the luxury of the 9.7 inch iPad 2 screen.

If you don’t have an iPad 2 yet head on over to get your Free iPad 2 right now.

With the launch of the iPhone 4S today, it opens the door to an unprecedented number of fails with the Voice recognition software “Siri” and we want to hear your biggest Siri fails.

No doubt, the voice recognition software will be trained to understand most basic accents, but dialects are a completely different story. Take “Trawlermen” which is based on fishermen of the north-east of Scotland. This programme is subtitled due to the difficulty people from around the country have understanding the accent. So if members of the same country can’t understand the dialect, I find it hard to believe that Siri will.

So submit any siri fails you have by emailing peter@pgmdesign.co.uk or you can iMessage me through the same address. Don’t forget to leave your name so we can credit the fail to you.

The only store I’ve seen so far with a constant queue was the O2 store who were also handing out refreshments and newspapers for those queuing. Not sure why there was a queue outside this store when every other phone shop just allowed customers to go in a pick up their brand new iPhone 4S without having to mess around. If anyone knows why I’d love to know.

For those customers lucky enough to get their hands on the iPhone 4S this morning, it already comes pre-installed with the new iOS 5 software so you don’t have to worry about updating when you get home.

The handset conforms to the same design as it’s predecessor the iPhone 4, but with an overhaul on internal features including processor and camera upgrade.

Now if you haven’t got your hands on one of these super desirable handsets yet then don’t worry. We can help you to get your Free iPhone 4S.

If you were lucky enough to get one this morning then check out our iMessage starter guide to get you up and running with chatting to all your friends on the move.

We want to hear from you…What do you think of your new iPhone 4S? Was it worth the upgrade?

So what are you waiting for folks……get you iPhone 4S today.

I am far too cool. Just figured out that I can hangout whilst also doing my normal browsing at the same time.

When I was browsing the internet and wanting to use the hangout feature I had to switch between windows, which became quite a pain in the backside.

Then I remembered that I have an iPad. So I booted up my airdisplay app on the ipad and set it up as a second monitor which means I can now have my hangout window displaying to my right and my normal browsing window on my macbook.

Lag appears minimal and is definitely a solution to those who can’t be bothered flicking in between windows and have access to an iPad.

The application I used was “Air Display” which can be bought athttp://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/air-display/id368158927?mt=8, There are plenty of Dual Display applications around, this is the only one that I managed to test with.

It’s really simple to get it set up, but if you have any problems then just give me a shout.

Share this one if you think it’s worthwhile. I’d appreciate it.

I love the internet, so to me nothing is more enjoyable than being able to do work on the internet whilst on the move. Bring in my iPad. It’s brilliant for doing so and I’m going to share with you the contents of my “Web Development” folder.

First app up is Bamboo Paper

This is pretty much your very own sketchpad. You boot the app up and you’re greeted with a book. Open the book and it’s the first page of your sketchbook. Draw, design, erase, colour, write. Just let your creative juices of your next big website design flow through your finger and appear on the screen without having a pencil and paper. Even better is that this app allows you to share your sketches. You can Email the page as an image, which is perfect for sending to clients if they want a quick copy of your ideas. There is also the option to save the page as a photo, or print the page. Fantastic app and definitely one I recommend to those always on the move.

Next up is Dropbox

I use this app to share files with clients. It lets you see documents that you have on your computer at home whilst on the move. Uploading the files to your private dropbox folder from your home computer, you can access them all whilst out and about, or even give other people access to your files. Sharing files with others is simple and can be done in seconds.

Gusto

For my next choice of Web development apps I have chosen Gusto. Gusto is an app which allows you access to your online websites whilst on the move. Set it up with your servers through FTP and you can download or upload your website files right to/from your iPad. What’s better is that it then allows you to edit your text files. This is brilliant if you have to make really urgent changes to your site, but don’t have access to a computer. Certainly one of my favourite apps to have.

Got a really bad memory? Reminders app is one that can help you with that.

Set it up to remind you of things that you need to do during the day. It allows you to also mark tasks as completed. This can be very handy as a workflow to show the progress you are making through a project and what other parts still need worked on.

The next is the standard Notes app.

Meeting a client, but forgot to take a pen and paper? Use this handy app to keep yourself organised with questions you want to ask and then type up their answers using the handy on screen keyboard. It’s a notepad app, pretty much speaks for itself.

Last but not least is my latest discovery CodeToGo

If like me you are teaching yourself Java or another programming language, it can be frustrating to be reading your book, but unable to do the practical parts as you can’t access a computer. This app is perfect for this. Supporting an impressive list of languages, this app will let you write java (or any code you need to work on) on your ipad. Not only that but it takes it one step further by also letting your run your code. I have only tested this using really basic Java code, like the standard “Hello World” and other basics, but I was definitely pleased with the results. One app I will definitely be looking forward to using over the coming months.

Right so that’s my roundup of the apps in my “Web Development” iPad folder. Hopefully it’s given you an idea of the apps out there in app store. Until next time folks….

With the release of the latest iOS software, comes a new feature that rivals the BBM feature that users have been craving for so long.

Although it appears it’s not as easy to set up as you would think. Today we are going to give you a run down on how to get started with iMessage.

Firstly perhaps you’re unaware of this feature in your newly upgraded iPhone/iPad/iPod touch, so here’s a quick brief of what iMessage actually is.

If you haven’t got any of these devices then head on over to the main site to get your very own Free iPad 2

iMessage

iMessage is a new messaging service for all iOS5 users. You can send unlimited text message via wi-fi or 3G from your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch to anyone with one of those devices. iMessage is built into the messages app so you can send text, photos, videos, locations, and contacts. You can also keep everyone in the loop with group messaging.
You can track your messages with delivery receipts and optional read receipts, see when someone is typing and enjoy a secure encryption for text messages. iMessage is cross device compatible. So you can start a conversation on your iPhone and continue it later on your iPad.

Setting up iMessage

Let’s get started with setting up iMessage.

You should first be running the iOS 5 software, if you aren’t then do a Software update via iTunes first.

Once you’re up and running tap on the settings icon and scroll down to messages. You will then be asked to enter your apple id. Your apple id is the email address that you use for purchasing stuff on iTunes. If you don’t have an account yet you will be prompted to create one.

If you’re doing this on an iPhone people will already be able to iMessage you by using your phone number, but you can also supply an email address so that other iOS enabled devices can iMessage you too.

If you are doing this on an iPad or iPod touch then you can only use iMessage with contacts email addresses, so you must supply one when setting up in order for others to contact you. Any email address that you have will do. It will then verify the email by sending out an email to it that you must open and click on the verify link.

Once the email address has been verified you will be taken to the settings screen for the Messages app. In this screen you have a number of options including enable/disable iMessage, Turn on Read Receipts, or allow your message to be sent as an SMS if iMessage is unable to send the text. This will only work on iPhone.

You can also add more email addresses to receive you iMessages at or turn on/off a subject field.

Sending a message

Now that we’ve got iMessage all set up you will want to send a text. Start by tapping the new message button in the top right corner of the screen. Here you will be asked to choose a contact or begin typing out a contacts name/email address. Once you’ve typed out the contact details iMessage will check it to ensure that it is iMessage enabled.

If it is, you’ll see the email address, phone number, or (if the address is in your contacts) person’s name light up in a blue bubble, acknowledging that you can go ahead and compose your message. In the future, when you type that person’s name or email address, you’ll see a little blue chat bubble next to it in the drop-down menu, signifying that this contact is iMessage-enabled

If you’ve typed in an address or phone number that does not correspond with an iOS device, one of two things will happen, depending on which iOS device you’re using. If you’re on an iPhone, your outgoing message will change into an SMS (or, if you’re messaging a group, a Group MMS), and your contact’s name will highlight in green. If you’re using one of Apple’s other iOS devices—an iPod touch or an iPad—your contact’s name will light up in red with an exclamation point next to it, and you won’t be able to send anything. When you get into a conversation with someone on an iPhone, you’ll be able to tell whether it’s an SMS/MMS or iMessage conversation by the color of your chat bubbles; green for SMS, blue for iMessage.

And that’s pretty much it.

This guide should help you to get started on your way to using iMessage.
Feel free to click one of the share buttons at the top of the page to help others get their iMessage set up.

It appears that although it is the most anticipated apple update of the year, it has not arrived smoothly. With millions of users reporting error codes including Error 3200.

This locks your phone into the verifying with apple screen and leaves you unable to go any further. The only known solution for this so far is to do a full system restore and boot into a previous version of the iOS.

So please hang fire for a few hours/days until these bugs have been ironed out and you can upgrade without any problems.

If you do decide to go ahead with the upgrade then don’t forget to back up everything before doing so.

If you haven’t got yourself an iOS device yet then head on over to the main site for your Free iPad 2

So it’s that time of year that every apple owner has been counting down the days to and now you no longer have to, because from 6pm GMT, the latest iOS software was made available for general download.

This includes loads of fantastic features that will change how you use your iDevice completely.

Here’s a quick rundown of the main new features of the iOS 5 software

iCloud

iCloud is like your very own hard drive in the sky. Starting off by giving every iOS 5 user a free 5gb worth of storage space, you can completely upload all the contents of your iPad including music, photos, videos, etc. This can let you sync your stuff between all your devices that run the iOS 5 software.

Wi-Fi Sync

Thanks to support for iCloud and over-the-air software updates, you don’t need to use iTunes with iOS 5. But if you want to keep using iTunes to manage, play, and purchase media on your computer, you can now synchronize iTunes with your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad wirelessly.

You’ll need to connect your device to a computer via a USB cable and synchronize at least once the old fashioned way. Once you’ve done that, click on your device in iTunes, open the settings tab, and under General find the “iTunes Wi-Fi Sync” option to get started.

Notification Center

Notifications have changed. No longer will you have to get a stupid blue bubble appearing on your screen to let you know someone’s messaged you or sent you a tweet. This will now be done in a sleek new Notification Center which you can find by swiping your finger down from the top centre of the screen. This will present you a list of all the recent alerts from all the active applications that you have set up within your settings.

There’s also room for little widgets in the Notification Center, allowing you to view weather forecasts and other information.

Twitter

Apple has built support for Twitter right into the operating system. If you have a Twitter account you can login with your username and password and automatically add your Twitter contacts to your phone’s contact list.

You can also use Twitter to login to applications that support Twitter IDs, and upload photos or other content to Twitter by opening the sharing menu in many applications.

iMessage

Apple is launching its own instant messaging platform, allowing users to send messages to one another in real-time. The iMessage app also supports photo and video sharing.

Unfortunately iMessage only supports iOS at the moment, which means that while you’ll be able to chat with your contacts using iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad devices, you won’t be able to message your Android or BlackBerry-toting friends unless you use a third party instant messaging service.

You can get our guide for how to use iMessage by clicking on this link.

Reminders

The new reminders feature lets you set notes for yourself and create to-do lists. You can synchronize these tasks with iCloud, iCal, or Microsoft Outlook.

There’s also support for location-based reminders which will give you an alert when you arrive at a specific location. This feature currently supports the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S.

Newsstand

Apple has added a new digital magazine and newspaper stand to iBooks. You can subscribe to digital periodicals and read them on your mobile devices using the new service.

Siri

One of the most impressive new features in iOS 5 is only available on the iPhone 4S.

It’s a voice-recognition system called Siri, which allows you to launch applications, dictate text messages or emails, or perform other actions. But you can also ask Siri questions and get actual answers. For instance, you can ask it to do a math question, or find local restaurants.

Siri gathers data from Wikipedia and Wolfram Alpha. Apple acquired the technology from a company that had originally developed Siri as a standalone app for iOS — but now it’s built into the operating system, as long as you have a supported device.

Get yourself iOS 5 today for your iDevice. If you don’t have an apple device then grab your free iPad 2 or any other apple device you want by heading over to the main site now.
