iPad 3 already in production – rumours?

Oct 17 2011

Only a few weeks ago came the announcement of the iPhone 4S and iOS 5, taking the world by storm and creating a frenzy only Apple could, but now this one could send the tech world into overdrive with the suggestion that the iPad 3 has already gone into production.

Jeff Fidacaro, Industry Analyst at Susquehanna Financial has claimed the new iPad 3 has already entered production in China. A conversation between him and AllThingsD revealed the following piece of information. “Since our last month supply chain checks we are now seeing 600,000 to one million iPad 3 builds showing up on the plan for the fourth quarter of calendar 2011… Our previous estimate did not include any iPad 3s.”

So what does this actually mean? Supply chain checks suggest to Fidacaro that Apple is upping the amount of iPads it knocks up  in the final quarter of the year to between 12 and 14 million, from between 11 million and 13 million. This, Fidacaro reckons, means an early iPad 3 production run is just around the corner.
Industry bloggers are also predicting the iPad 3 with look totally different, but they’re only basing this upon how different the second generation effort looked to the original. Jumping to conclusions maybe…Other predictions for the new iPad 3 include a 9.7-inch version of the iPhone 4S’s Retina display and  faster A6 dual-core CPU.

If these rumours turn out to be true, the iPad 3 could be with us from early 2012, with March being touted as that was the same month Apple released the iPad 2.

There is a possibility that this could after all JUST be a rumour, but for the tech fans amongst us it does give us a whole new gadget to be excited about.

If you can’t wait until the new iPad 3 comes out then why not head over to get your free iPad 2 right now instead?
